4 DAY AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK GORILLA & GOLDEN MONKEY TRACKING.

We will then transfer to the park on the 2.5-hour journey from Kigali. Alternatively, if you are already in Kigali, our driver-guide will pick you up at your hotel after breakfast, and drive to the Kayonza district in the Eastern Province of Rwanda.

The journey to Akagera National Park will reward you with planned en-route stopovers along the route. Feel free to ask your driver-guide questions about the wonderful scenery and even request photographic stopovers along the way. As you arrive at the park, you will check in to your booked safari accommodation at the lodge and order your lunch. You will then proceed for a sunset boat ride on Lake Ihema with a chance to see the aquatic mammals such as hippos and crocodiles in the lake or on the shores. You will retire and drive back to the lodge, dinner, and rest.

 You will leave for a full-day safari game drive in the park. (Order your packed lunch). You can expect to see the Big Five mammals (lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and leopard) as well as antelopes, kobs, and baboons, among others. Akagera National Park is a varied habitat for wildlife species in Rwanda and a birder’s haven with more than 500 bird species in the park. Later, in the afternoon you will transfer back to Kigali at your hotel for dinner and rest.

After breakfast at 7:30 in the morning, you will embark on an exciting two-hour game drive, where you’ll have the chance to spot the iconic Big Five: lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, and rhinos. As you traverse the beautiful landscapes, you’ll be captivated by the sight of these majestic animals in their natural habitat. The game drive offers a thrilling opportunity to observe wildlife up close, with expert guides sharing fascinating insights into their behavior and ecosystems. Afterward, you’ll return to the hotel to check out around 11:00 AM, have lunch, and then begin the scenic three-and-a-half-hour drive to Musanze in Kigali for market viewing. Following the market visit, you’ll check in at your hotel around 4 PM.

You’ll start your day with breakfast at 5:30 AM, followed by a 6:30 AM arrival at the park office for a briefing. By 7:30 AM, you’ll begin your adventure, trekking through the park for either golden monkey tracking or gorilla trekking. After your trek, which concludes around 11:30 AM, you’ll transfer to hotel for lunch. Once you’ve enjoyed lunch, you’ll head back to Kigali, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Genocide Memorial before your transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
